A coalition named
MI Energy Future is leading the charge to call for legislation that would require that 10 percent of the state's electricity comes from renewable sources by 2015.

James Croce, NextEnergy CEO, said the measure is
"the best way to send a signal ... to the business community and
investors that Michigan is open for business for renewable and
alternative energy development."
He called the 10 percent
target "reasonable, achievable and good public policy," adding that
alternative energy is "the most powerful engine we have to drive our
economy forward and work ourselves out of the economic slump we are in.
