Detroit to get WiMax in 2008

Sprint Nextel will make Detroit completely wireless by the end of 2008.

That was the pledge from Barry West, president of Xohm, Sprint Nextel's WiMax business unit, at the WiMax World conference in Chicago."We're on the verge of a new era of communications, the start of another revolution," West said. "We're going to kick butt."

West said Xohm is the next step in the development of both wireless networks and the Internet -- which now has 211 million users in the United States, phenomenal for a technology that's basically only 10 years old.
