W. Vernor nets Middle Eastern restaurant, more to savor in Southwest Detroit

Pollo, papusa, pizza, paella ... and falafel? West Vernor has added a new cuisine to its culinary mix with the opening of Beirut Kabob at 5827 W. Vernor just west of Junction.

Vittoria Katanski is the marketing director for Southwest Detroit Business Association, the organization spearheading the Savor Southwest campaign. She works to get the word out about the area's 130 restaurants, 39 bakeries and 25 markets, from Corktown to Mexicantown to Oakwood Heights.

"The dining options in Southwest Detroit are continually growing, and are representative of the diversity of culture in our community," she says. "Beirut Kabob is a welcomed addition on West Vernor -- and it is situated in one of the liveliest sections of Southwest Detroit."

Beruit Kabob's menu has the Middle Eastern food one might expect, with kabob, fattoush, kibbee and mujadarah. Burgers, subs and shrimp are also available. Dine-in, carry-out and delivery is available.

Beirut Kabob is open 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sundays. Call 313-841-2100.
