New ampitheater sought for riverfront

Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick says the vacant waterfront Ford Auditorium should be demolished to make way for a music amphitheater.

The plan would cost about $50 million. George Jackson, president of the Detroit Economic Growth Corp., said officials need about $20 million more to fund the project.
