OST, the Grand Rapids-based tech firm, opened a satellite office in downtown Detroit earlier this month, bringing seven more jobs to the Motor City’s Central Business District.

OST, which is short for Open Systems Technologies, specializes in tech services, such as IT, database security and software development. Its new Detroit office overlooks Grand Circus Park in the Grand Park Center building on Adams Street a few doors down from the Kales Building.

“We are extremely excited about the opportunity in Detroit,” says Mike Lomonaco, marketing manager for OST. “There are a lot of talented tech people in downtown Detroit. From a recruiting standpoint, it’s great.”

OST currently employs a team of 190 people, including 120 full-time employees and 70 full-time independent contractors. The tech firm opened a satellite office in Ann Arbor and has grown it to 10 people as of this summer. The Detroit office should hit that number soon. On top of its current staff of seven employees (sales and technical professionals) it is looking to hire three people, including a sales rep, a tech consultant and a mobile app developer.

“We have been looking at downtown Detroit for a year and a half now,” says Mike Lomonaco, marketing manager for OST. “About as long as we have been looking at Ann Arbor.”
