Two downtown developments get state tax credits

Gov. Jennifer Granholm awarded tax credits to two downtown Detroit development projects last week.

According to the story:

The Fort Shelby was awarded a $6.8 million credit and is slated to become a Doubletree Guest Suites hotel. The Albert Kahn-designed skyscraper is on West Lafayette a few blocks from Campus Martius Park.

The Broderick Tower, on Woodward at Grand Circus Park, was awarded a $3.9 million credit. Plans are under way to turn the vacant 35-story Broderick into lofts and retail.
